Vice President | Educational

Peter Kuhn

Born and raised in Chicago, Peter has always been motivated to make a positive impact in the community in which he was raised. To date, Peter has built and renovated K-12 and higher educational facilities totaling more than 2.5 million square feet. A significant amount of his projects serve some of the most under-resourced areas including Auburn Gresham, Belmont Cragin, Brighton Park, Englewood and West Humboldt Park. Peter is inspired to leverage his construction expertise and considerable experience knowing how critical these facilities and environments are to making a meaningful difference in kids’ futures, supporting lifelong learning and helping elevate entire neighborhoods.

Peter started his career with B&A in 2006 as a project engineer. He has steadily risen to the role of vice president overseeing the firm’s education group and $100M+ work annually. Complementing his core responsibilities, Peter has developed a strong track record for achieving significant M/WBE and local workforce participation on his projects – not just as a matter of policy but of personal conviction. Peter also mentors kids interested in architecture, engineering and construction through enrichment programs known as “Behind the Fence Club” which are offered at schools undergoing construction. These programs provide valuable insight and inspiration to students interested in pursuing careers in the built environment.

Some of Peter’s notable projects include Noble Network of Charter School’s Mansueto High School, DePaul College Prep, Park District of Oak Park’s Community Recreation Center, City of Evanston’s Robert Crown Community Center, Northwestern University’s Jacobs Center renovation and Kresge Hall renovation and addition, DePaul University’s School of Music, The University of Chicago’s Searle Laboratory renovation, The Latin School of Chicago, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet and the University of Notre Dame Raclin Murphy Museum of Art.
