Don Redar

Vice President | BACR

Don Redar

An industry veteran and subject matter expert with 40 years of concrete restoration expertise, Don personifies the saying “work hard and stay humble.” Don began his career as a field laborer where he learned the business from the bottom up. He quickly ascended the ranks, serving as superintendent, project manager and vice president.

Mentored by the company’s eponymous leader, Takao Nagai, Don took over the division’s operations in 2010 when Takao Nagai Concrete Restoration was acquired by Bulley & Andrews. Now known as Bulley & Andrews Concrete Restoration (BACR), Don oversees the division’s day-to-day operations while developing new and nurturing existing client relationships.

Don is renowned for his quiet confidence and technical acumen which have earned him an unparalleled level of trust among clients and industry partners. Paired with his keen ability to analyze issues and challenges, he provides innovative and effective solutions for every project his team undertakes.

Under his direction, BACR has experienced steady growth. The division has mastered the art of plaza restoration, as evidenced by projects such as 10 S. Riverside Plaza, 120 S. Riverside Plaza and 222 S. Riverside Plaza. BACR has also earned the status of certified application specialists for BASF, LymTal International, SIKA, and Watson Bowman Acme. Under Don’s leadership, BACR has augmented their self-perform work, including post tension tendon repair and hot rubber waterproofing.

Don is an active leader in the industry. Generous with his time and keen to share his experience, he is an affiliate member of the Structural Engineer Association of Illinois (SEAOI) and a member of International Concrete Restoration Institute (ICRI), Sealant Waterproofing Repair Institute (SWRI), American Shotcrete Association (ASA), Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA Suburban), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Illinois Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Association of Preservation Technology, Western Great Lakes Chapter (APT WGLC).

When Don is not on a project site or at his computer, he can be found in the gym, working in his yard or bike riding with his wife (appreciating the smooth pavement).
