Wakely Lab Buildout

The Wakely Lab buildout created new laboratory space within the High Bay Research Building (HBRB). The 1,350 sq. ft. laboratory supports the High Energy Light Isotope Experiment (HELIX), to measure the chemical and isotopic abundances of light cosmic ray nuclei.

The space provides a light-tight box to support the HELIX experiment, which is a high-altitude balloon-borne magnet spectrometer payload. It is designed to measure the flux of high-energy cosmic-ray isotopes. The instrument is currently scheduled for its next flight over Antarctica at the end of 2023.
