Oak Park Elementary School District 97: Longfellow Elementary School
Based on feedback from the school community, Oak Park Elementary School District explored solutions that would upgrade Longfellow Elementary School while preserving as much of the existing outdoor playground space as possible. As construction manager, Bulley & Andrews provided conceptual budgeting before design documents were issued, allowing the district to use their program dollars wisely. The new, 16,500 sq. ft. addition included:
- Six new classrooms and the renovation of older classrooms
- Additional space for special education
- The addition of an elevator and chair lift to promote and provide improved accessibility throughout the building
- The renovation of the learning commons, which includes space to offer instruction in STEAM
- A new, larger multi-purpose room
- The renovation of space for student services (OT/PT, EL, etc.)
- Exterior site improvements that include restoring play space
