NorthShore University HealthSystem: Glenbrook Hospital 3S Renovation

Bulley & Andrews completed the renovation of the third floor, south wing patient unit and support space at Glenbrook Hospital.

The project began with the complete demolition of the existing space, followed by the installation of a new topping slab and the replacement of the entire curtain wall system. The team went on to rebuild the unit with a new footprint while coordinating with existing systems in place.

The 15,000 sq. ft. renovation on the south wing’s third floor was completed in eight months. The work was coordinated within an occupied environment with active patient units on the same floor as the renovation work and COVID-19 patients immediately above. The project is a part of NorthShore’s new layout standards, allowing the hospital to continue to provide advanced medical and surgical care in a healing environment.

To mitigate disruption, B&A phased the work and coordinated shutdowns of various systems that impacted adjacent spaces’ utilities.
