Howard Brown Health: Broadway Youth Center

Howard Brown Health (HBH) exists to eliminate the disparities in healthcare services experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people through research, education and the provision of services that promote health and wellness. Bulley & Andrews was selected as the construction manager to provide preconstruction and construction services for HBH’s new 20,000 sq. ft. Broadway Youth Center (BYC).

As a multi-site, federally qualified health center (FQHC), HBH serves communities across the city of Chicago. They provide wrap around healthcare services including primary care, behavioral health services, social services and HIV testing and specialty care. The BYC is a ground-up, five-story multi-use youth center with clinic serving young people experiencing homelessness, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

Unlike HBH’s other 12 clinics which provide care to people of all ages, BYC specializes in providing low-barrier care to LGBTQ and unstably housed youth ages 12-24. The new facility will allow them to expand the reach of their vital services and promote a culture of preventive care.
