Elgin Math & Science Academy: Gymnasium & Administration Building Renovations

Elgin Math & Science Academy (EMSA) is a K-8 grade elementary school that brings science and math to life for students in Elgin, Illinois and the surrounding communities. To further realize their mission, the Academy invested in their campus with a series of renovation projects.

As the construction manager, Bulley & Andrews, along with architect Wheeler Kearns, completed the administration and gymnasium building renovations. Left vacant for several years, the 8,000 sq. ft. historic administration building is now the main face for the school, holding the staff offices, visitor check in and the school library. Also left vacant, the 18,000 sq. ft. gymnasium building is now the activity hub for the school, hosting athletic events, indoor assemblies, lunchroom, kitchen and some elective classes.
