Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School

To support its goal to combine the best of Jewish learning and traditions with the most innovative educational practices, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School engaged Bulley & Andrews to serve as construction manager for their facility expansion.

The first phase of work, which began in September 2018, consisted of a 26,700 sq. ft. addition which gave the school an opportunity to provide a dedicated entrance that is both secure and welcoming for students. The second phase focused on renovating existing spaces to create a more light filled and engaging atmosphere which makes all who enter feel secure, connected and inspired.

Renowned for their ability to provide “certainty of outcome”, B&A worked closely with the owner and design team to develop a strong team dynamic to ensure target budget and schedule parameters were met. The project won three Design Excellence Awards from AIA Chicago in 2020, including:

  • Distinguished Building Award
  • Divine Detail Award for the Tallit (Exterior Brick)
  • Divine Detail Award for the Makom Rina (Interior Masonry Sacred Space)
