21c Museum Hotel Chicago: Guestroom & Public Space Buildout

Art can anchor and energize a community. It can also enrich the travel experience. 21c Museum Hotel Chicago aims to seamlessly blend art and hospitality, offering guests a boutique hotel experience inside a contemporary art museum.

21c Museum Hotel Chicago is the company’s ninth and largest property to date. Serving as construction manager, Bulley & Andrews brought the 232,400 sq. ft. hotel space to life. The project features bright and airy designs in each of the 297 guestrooms and suites, and the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby. The property also features a unique, chef-driven food and beverage concept, full-service spa and fitness center.

The new hotel, which occupies what was formally The James Hotel, has more than 10,000 sq. ft. of exhibition, meeting and event space, showcasing rotating exhibitions, interactive site-specific art installations and a roster of cultural programming based on collaborations with local and national arts organizations.

The property earned the distinction of being name #5 on Conde Nast Traveler’s 2021 Reader’s Choice Awards: Top Hotels in Chicago.
