199 E. Lake Shore Drive: Masonry Facade Restoration
Bulley & Andrews Masonry Restoration completed a comprehensive repair project at landmark residential building, 199 East Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. The building was originally designed by Marshall & Fox.
The team replaced approximately 500 pieces of terra cotta and repointed 100% of the mortar joints on the west and north facades. The terra cotta has cracked because of corrosion of embedded steel. As part of the comprehensive repairs, BAMR removed the terra cotta at locations of distress, prepared and coated the embedded steel and installed flashing to provide long-term repairs. In addition and with our trade partners, BAMR is restored the building’s windows.
