Playing It Safe, We All Win
Bulley & Andrews (B&A) places a premium on safety, making it a consideration in all facets of our work.
“One of the long-standing goals of Bulley & Andrews is to achieve and maintain a strong record of jobsite safety,” said B&A’s executive chairman, Allan E. Bulley, Jr. “Our success in this endeavor is evidenced by our formidable EMR of 0.57, a ranking well below the industry average of 1.0 and a strong measure of our steadfast commitment to safe building practices.”
Spotlighting B&A’s commitment to safety, safety director, Greg Marquez, led Safety Stand Downs at two jobsites in partnership with the Builders Association.
“Developing a culture that values safety above all and engages every level of the organization to think, act, and respect safe building practices, as a matter of course, is key to our safety approach,” said Marquez.
The Safety Stand Down initiative is organized by the Builders Association to provide firms the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to safety and the well-being of their workforce.
On Tuesday, May 9th, workers were told to “cut” at Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s new theater project to participate in the Safety Stand Down. The following day workers at DePaul University’s School of Music project took time to stand down and listen up as Marquez led onsite safety training.
Recognizing the success of our safety program, B&A was honored with two awards from the Builders Association at their annual Spring Summit. B&A received the Safety Recognition Award for Outstanding Safety Performance in 2016 as well as the Safety Improvement Award for Commendable Safety Performance Improvement in Calendar Year 2016.
