Nobody Does It Better: Presenting B&A’s 1891 Award Winners

Bulley & Andrews attributes its success to the contributions of its workforce, whose commitment and loyalty are essential to the firm’s enduring legacy. Celebrating contributions at all levels annually, the executive team honors outstanding performance with B&A’s highest distinction—the 1891 Award. In 2023, the award was proudly presented to Leticia Cadena, accounts payable supervisor, and Debora Rieck, senior superintendent.

Joining B&A in 2008 and rising through the ranks of the accounting department, Leticia oversees expense accounts and invoice processing. She works in the crucial behind-the-scenes realm of construction operations, playing a pivotal role in maintaining B&A’s reputation for sound financials and timely payment to trade partners.

“Leticia’s recognition is well-deserved. Her work ethic, dedication and exceptional talent have truly shone through. She is an inspiration to us all and her achievement is a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence,” remarked Mike Sudol, B&A’s chief financial officer.

Gratified to have her dedication and commitment to her work recognized, Leticia credits her success to her colleagues, whose guidance and support have bolstered her confidence, enabling her to take on new responsibilities and challenges.

Well-known for her strong leadership, depth of technical understanding and problem-solving skills, Deb is B&A’s first female superintendent and a tremendous asset to any job site. She has led the success of many notable projects including DePaul College Prep, Ridgeland Common for the Park District of Oak Park and The University of Chicago’s Searle Lab renovation. Firm but fair, Deb’s ability to foster strong partnerships while delivering on ambitious schedules has earned her widespread respect among trade partners and colleagues, and she is a “fan favorite” among clients.

As we’ve grown, B&A’s work has gotten more challenging and sophisticated. “We’re fortunate to have leaders in the field that can meet those challenges and chief among them is Deb,” according to Joe Koppers, vice president and director of field operations. “She is known for her integrity, technical expertise and bringing out the best in others. There is no assignment she can’t handle.”

With an unparalleled sense of commitment and keen eye for detail, Leticia and Deb each embody the essence of the 1891 award.
