New Searle Visitor Center at Lincoln Park Zoo Recognized

Lincoln Park Zoo Searle Visitor Center

As part of their 2018 Pride in Construction Awards program, the Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) recognized the new Searle Visitor Center at Lincoln Park Zoo in the New Construction – Chicago/Suburbs (below $20m) category.

The annual Pride in Construction Awards program was introduced in 2005 to recognize excellence in union construction in Northeastern Illinois.

“The projects we receive each year demonstrate that the union construction industry produces the best product anywhere in the world, and this year’s entries and winners perfectly illustrate that point,” said CISCO Executive Director Dan Allen.

The new, 9,500 sq. ft. Searle Visitor Center features two new buildings containing guest and member services including an information kiosk, first aid, stroller rentals, interactive displays, a shaded rest area, member lounge, restrooms and offices. The buildings span the east gate of the Zoo and are visually tied together by an innovative, laser-cut shade canopy inspired by organic forms found in nature. Designed by Ross Barney Architects, the project provides a striking gateway to one of Chicago’s most beloved institutions.
