Project Details

Levy Senior Center
Bulley & Andrews served as general contractor for the City of Evanston’s new senior center. The building, known as the Levy Senior Center, is a single story structure with an innovative design and approximately 27,000 SF of activity space.
Levy Senior Center is a showcase for natural lighting and passive solar control. Glass enclosed pavilions contain classrooms and community meeting space. A translucent fiberglass skin allows diffused light to enter the main multipurpose room while wood wall shutters protect occupants from the glare and heat of direct sunlight. The interior courtyard provides additional activity space for center programs. The building is scaled to complement the residences across the street.
The project earned the 2007 AIA Illinois Frank Lloyd Wright Award.
