CHICAGO, IL (January 3, 2005) Bulley & Andrews, LLC has been selected as general contractor for the City of Wheaton’s new public library. Located at 225 N. Cross St., the focus of the project involves expanding the current facility by putting an addition onto the 74,000 SF library and renovating part of the existing facility.

The $21 million project includes a three-story addition with basement totaling 58,000 SF on the north side of the existing library. Accomplishing this requires demolition of an existing, slab on grade, single story element. Also included in the project are major site changes and smaller building additions along the east and west elevations to strengthen the relationship to the park on the west and enhancing the entrance adjacent to the parking lot on the east side.

The work will be constructed in two phases. The first phase involves demolition of the existing extension on the north side of the building and the construction of the new addition. The second phase will be the renovation of the existing library. The result will be a 132,000 SF state-of-the art library facility.

The project broke ground in early December 2004 and is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2006. The construction team for the project includes Paul Hellermann, Project Executive, Sam Vaccarello, Sr. Project Manager, Bruce Piecuch, Superintendent and Andrew Johnson, Project Engineer. Burnidge Cassell of Elgin is the project architect. Justin Sager of Owner’s Services Group is representing the Owner.
