Bulley and Andrews Through The Years:
1960-69

Illinois Tool Works, 1963

Architects Frazier, Raftery, Orr and Fairbank designed the new office addition to Illinois Tool Works' Shakeproof Division in Elgin, IL. Bulley & Andrews completed the construction using the Critical Path Method of job scheduling. The relatively new methodology proved highly successful allowing the project team to deliver the building to the Owner three weeks ahead of the six-month completion deadline.

A. Stein, Inc. Manufacturing Plant, 1965

The new $3,000,000 A. Stein, Inc. manufacturing plant and offices in Des Plaines, IL were designed and built by the same team that completed the company's earlier building in 1914. Friedman, Alschuler & Sincere and Bulley & Andrews collaborated again to complete the 200,000 sq. ft. facility on River Road near Devon Avenue. The 1914 building had been one of the first reinforced concrete buildings in Chicago and a forerunner of the modern curtainwall type of construction where walls are not load bearing. The new building is of contemporary design and served to locate all of the manufacturing facilities on the first floor, with offices on the second floor.
